The BBC has announced that next January will broadcast the documentary David Bowie: the past five years, who came to pay homage to the artist on the first anniversary of his death.

The BBC 2, the second channel of the state television, will be in charge of releasing this film, directed by Francis Whately, and that will include the sound of the unprecedented recording of the single “Lazarus”, included in Blackstar, his latest album.
Watheley, who previously directed David Bowie: Five Years, issued in 2013, explained that the new feature-length film reveals unknown aspects of the influential composer and includes statements of its members.
The documentary focuses on the albums The Next Day and Blackstar, which premiered two days before the death of Bowie, the 10 of January 2016, coinciding with his birthday 69, and the musical Lazarus, that will come to London after premiering in the united States.
With this film, Whathely will show that, despite the appearance of constant change, the work of David Bowie presents a “constant themes, such as alienation, mortality, and fame.”
This article is part of a set of programs that the different radio and television channels of the BBC issued in 2017 in memory of the artist, which will include interviews and performances from archive and previously unpublished.
