Dies Sharon Jones, a so-called diva of soul – The Herald (Colombia)

At the age of 60, a cancer shut down his voice.

The american soul singer Sharon Jones, passed away Friday at the age of 60 years. Cancer of the pancreas, diagnosed in 2013, it shuts off the voice of a woman who was considered a diva of soul.

According to a statement from his record label, Daptone Records, Sharon gave a "battle heroically against cancer", and "was always surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings".

Jones was born in Augusta, Georgia, in the bosom of a humble family, he began his career in the late 90s and its powerful and serious voice evoked, according to experts, the great goddesses of funk and soul from decades past.
