Museum notes that previously unseen drawings of Van Gogh are copies – teleSUR TV

The presentation of the book Vincent Van Gogh, le brouillard them, le carnet retrouvé with 65 previously unseen drawings sparked this Tuesday, a lot of controversy when the museum of Amsterdam, dedicated to the artist, said that this is just simple copies.

The book is signed by one of the best specialists of the work of the Dutch master, the canadian Bogomila Welsh – Ovcharov. However, the Amsterdam museum argued in a statement that “on the basis of years of research on the drawings of Van Gogh in the collection of the museum and in other sites, the experts came to the conclusion that these drawings are imitations”.

The museum, which has the largest collection of works by Van Gogh, questioned the ink used in the binder, supposedly of Van Gogh, as well as the style of the drawings. In addition, he pointed out errors in topography.

The publishing house Le Seuil indicated that the drawings were made in ink in the book of accounts of a hotel, located in the city of Arles, in the southeast of France, where Van Gogh stayed for a while.

The editor of the work, Bernard Comment, stated that “there is a temple and there are guardians of the temple”, in reference to one of the artist’s works. He added that “it is not the first time the Van Gogh museum is wrong.”
