Ron Glass best known for playing Ron Harris in the sitcom Barney Miller Shepherd Derrial in Firefly, died Saturday at 71.

The news has been confirmed by a representative of the actor. However, details about the cause of death have not been disclosed up to now.

Glass, born in Evansville, Indiana, studied Drama and Literature at the University of Evansville. His career in Hollywood had its beginnings in the early seventies in episodes of Sanford and son, Hawaii Five-O and All in the Family.

In 1975, the american actor rose to fame for her role in Barney Miller. This performance earned him an Emmy nomination in 1982.

In 2012, Glass joined the cult series Firefly created by Joss Whedon. In 2005, he returned to assume this role in the tape Serenity.

The appearances most recent on u.s. television on the part of this actor were in CSI in 2014, as well as in the show Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D., where she played Dr. Streiten.
