One of the great things that brought you Death magnetic (2008) was the involvement of Rick Rubin as producer, who achieved a reconnection that spurred James and Lars to go back to their roots of thrash," explained the musician, 52 years of age.

In the album, Trujillo premiered as a co-author of the topic Man unkind along with Hetfield and Ulrich, an experience that meant something exciting and a personal challenge.
