Madrid .- Vicente Aranda, director of some classic films of Spanish cinema as Libertarian , The Lute: walks or bursts and The Turkish passion , died Tuesday. He was 88, reports AP.
Aranda, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, died at his home in Madrid, the Spanish Film Academy in a statement. The causes of death were not made public.
“We have been been one of the greats. He never lost the habit of making movies,” said actor Antonio Resines, president of the Academy.
Born in Barcelona, Aranda is the author of a prolific career that includes over 20 films. His filmography includes keys tapes Spanish cinema almost always linked to the civil war (1936-1939) and its aftermath.
He was awarded numerous prizes Goya for best film and best director for Lovers (1991). Actresses Victoria Abril and Ana Belen Aranda muses were common and staged most of his films.
