Die blues legend BB King, at 89 – El Nuevo Herald

The blues legend B.B. King died in Las Vegas, his lawyer said Friday. He was 89.

King died Thursday in his sleep calmly at 9:40 pm PDT, at his home in Las Vegas, said his lawyer Brent Bryson.

The musician, who worked as a laborer on a farm, brought new fans to the blues and influenced a generation of musicians with his passionate guitar and heartfelt lyrics in songs like “The Thrill Is Gone”.

King sold million albums worldwide and was inducted into the Hall of Fame Foundation Blues and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Roll.

King was playing a Gibson guitar to which he affectionately called Lucille and it was not just the undisputed king of the blues, but also a mentor to dozens of guitarists like Eric Clapton.

In 2009 he received his 15th Grammy for album of traditional blues for “One Kind Favor” .
