Triumphs and disappointments at Primavera Sound – El Universal (Venezuela)

Primavera Sound model still works. The curator continues successful, presenting not only established and recognized artists but pleasant surprises that have not yet tested the glories of stardom. Therefore assistance remains high, which augurs a promising future for the Barcelona festival.

The big disappointment of the last day of Primavera Sound was The Strokes, who have built some of the most recent rock anthems and whose contribution Gender is appreciated. However, they are bored on stage. No charisma and unattractive. A Julian Casablancas is sluggish note, something that was seen since Friday, during the disastrous presentation of his side project Julian Casablancas + The Voidz.

It is not the case of another member of The Strokes Albert Hammond Jr., who also had the opportunity to show his eponymous solo proposal, with a much more appropriate and pleasing result. If there is any hope for the band in the future, it is likely to fall on him.

Instead Interpol would be another story. A band that in the first ten minutes of the show ensured a remarkable journey into the festival. “Say hello to the angels,” “Evil”, “NYC”, “Obstacle1″, there was little to stop the boys outside New York, while Paul Banks interacted with the audience with a strong Spanish with Mexican accent.

It was also the case Ride, who dazzled with his rock and psychedelia, shoegaze tell, compared to an exalted and appreciative audience to be able to see the reunited after years of separation band.

Other winners of the Primavera Sound were people of Alt-J, whose surprising sonic clarity and hypnotizes. Live vocal works are almost perfect and exquisitely visual proposal complements. Intelligent and direct electronic.

Speaking of voice perfection, Jose Gonzales was another who brought a show to remember in an auditorium full capacity. Their folk is elegant, complex but easily digestible. Live manages to connect with people who quietly contemplates his musical chair.

It was at this same stage where Afrobeat legend Tony Allen would also give a kind of flavor and rhythm. Allen, who has 74 years, is one of those musicians that has aged with dignity, without leaving the stage, surrounding himself with musicians who measure up to his legacy. Certainly a memorable show.

The strong female presence in this festival gave extraordinary moments. Both old and new generations. Tori Amos and Patti Smith share festival with Sleater-Kiney and The Julie Ruin.

Tori Amos relying only on two pianos, one electric and one tail, starred in a magical moment with the sea and the sunset in the background, while interpreting the best of their repertoire of more than a quarter century.

Meanwhile, Patti Smith also still enjoys rocking though sometimes preach their political and social ideas, what which led her to make an extra acoustic performance and declamatory.

There was time for laughs at the Primavera Sound 2015. Foxygen is a band of pure rock and roll whose live is rather abstract and unpredictable. It lends the rhythm disorder. However, he never bored. Simulate fights on stage, play cards while the singer babbling incoherently, will put a few seconds while a vinyl, guitarist complains that do not pay enough and other rare, dramatic situations, but always get a smile. It may not be for everyone but never indifferent

Others who searched the smiles were the Scots Belle & Dev. Sebastian brought his indie pop festival Primavera Sound. A celebration for a festival that turned fifteen in style and hopefully continue to provide many great moments as this year.
