Museum in New York will exhibit artworks in Cuba – Aristeguinoticias

The Bronx Museum exhibition will be held in the middle of the process of talks agreed in December between the governments of Cuba and the United States to restore diplomatic relations –rotas by Washington in 1961– and normalize bilateral ties.

The Bronx Museum, New York (United States) display about a hundred of his pieces in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes ( MNBA) in Havana, from next May 21.

The show is part of the XII Biennial of Havana , the most important event of the visual arts the

island.

“Wild Noise” is called the exhibition, which includes works by 54 exponents of contemporary American art .

Among the pieces highlights the ” Flag African American “ emblematic work of David Hammons, several meters long, which will be placed in the facade of the Universal Art Building, one of two that make up the iconic cultural institution.

Parallel to the shows a educational exchange program, joint curators, artists and the collaboration of adolescents of both cities in the publication of a magazine, among other actions will be developed.

This is the “ Fine greater exchange that the MNBA been made with a foreign institution,” said Corina Matamoros, curator of the MNBA expert.

The Museum director Bronx, Holly Bolck said for his part that was a dream come true this exhibit in Havana some of the most popular funds in your institution.

The Bronx Museum opened its doors for the first time 1971 following the movement of struggle for civil rights for African Americans.

As part of the exchange between the two museums, the MNBA lead an exhibition in New York in 2016, including creations of the 60s, 70s and 80s of the twentieth century.
