Cannes 2015: drama with Catherine Deneuve opens the festival – Trade

A French film Emmanuelle Bercot with Catherine Deneuve in the role of a judge of minors who tries to save a young crime opens today Cannes , which emphasizes in its 68th edition more feminine, social and intimate arthouse look.

“La tête en haut” (“With high head”) of French director of 47 years does not compete for the Palme d’Or, but it is the first time in 30 years that a woman’s work opens the festival ‘riviera’ French Diane Kurys in 1987-after moving away from glamor opening other issues to give voice to a hard but hopeful social reality.

The film, at once tough and full of hope, shows the efforts of the judge ( Catherine Deneuve ) and a teacher ( Benoît Magimel, Best Actress Award at Cannes for “The Pianist” in 2001) to save this young man, who spent his childhood in foster families and correctional facilities, at the inability of his mother (Sara Forestier), a drug addict and unstructured, to care for their two children.

His manager described him as a “documentary film and fiction” that did not cause any excitement in the press pass. Its official projection in the hall of the Palais Lumière Festivals will kick official to output this year.
