VENICE, ITALY (06 / Sep / 2015) .- No less than eight years of work has led to the filmmaker Amy Berg end documentary “Janis” presented today out of competition in Venice, which has been guided by the voice of Janis Joplin to reflect the feelings of the singer.

The next 4 October will mark 45 years of the death of a woman who did see that everything was equal and freely living in their own way, but in the documentary is shown as being a very fragile, extremely self-conscious by appearance and continually in search of love.

But “Janis was able to transform their pain into creativity, which makes still images of one of his concerts continue to thrill,” he said at a press conference documentary filmmaker Amy Berg.

“It’s amazing to think about what he added Janis suffered despite the fame and recognition achieved in recent years”, think of all the pain he endured “during his short life.”

The documentary, which begins and ends with performances of Joplin, begins with a letter written to his family shortly after his 27th birthday he was born on 19 January 1943, in 1970, the year the letter they pass away.

Speaking of success and ambition, but between the lines it is easy to discover the quest for recognition by parents who let her live her life but not supported her decision to pursue music.

The documentary, which shows a massive parallelism in the life and death of Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse, has testimonials from friends and musical partners for their younger siblings, Michael and Laura.

They remember how Janis was self-conscious about their looks teenager, which led her to develop a wild side breastplate.

A college classmate of Austin (Texas) narrates one of the most cruel anecdotes from his youth. Someone entered the contest “the ugliest man on campus” and won. A humiliation that “devastated”.

After that time at university he went to San Francisco in 1963, where he began singing blues. “But he was in constant conflict with herself. She was always unhappy,” said one of his friends and roommate, Jae Whitaker.

The documentary tells the story linearly Joplin, some of their relations, with men and women, starting with their Big Brother and the Holding Company and success for its special wild singing and, above all, to act on a stage.

“The film also wants to celebrate the exuberant spirit of Janis, thirst for life,” said Berg.

Her husky voice, recorded in multiple interviews, mixed with footage shot by friends, videos of his performances and multiple testimonies.

After leaving the Big Brother-the success and prominence of Janis internal- generated many problems, his life got out and began to consume large amounts of heroin.

On more than one occasion as Peggy Caserta’s friends had to literally go on stage ‘was the case of his performance in Woodstock-, for once there overcome any situation and become a stage animal .

Caserta was very important in the life of the singer person when he was between 25 and 27 years, but declined to participate in the documentary.

“Four years ago I went to talk to Peggy and said he did not want to go on camera, not wanting anyone to see as it is now, but remember that young, Berg said.

Peggy was her friend and lover because the singer “was not defined in a classical way, loved men, women, love,” but the documentary has not wanted to take the film in all the relations of Joplin, but only those that have any influence on your music .

A music which he lived and which was the only thing out of his way to self-destruction.

He was an attempt to quit heroin after meeting her last boyfriend, David, in Rio de Janeiro, but fell when he was about to release a new album, “Me and Bobby McGee”, entitled as the song Kris Kristoferson that It became a great success.

four million copies of that album were sold, but Janis Joplin did not see him. He died of a drug overdose on October 4, 1970 at a motel in Los Angeles at 27 years as Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse, members terrible “Club 27″.

In the motel was left without reading a telegram in which David invited him to go to Kathmandu or wherever she wanted.
