The study Walt Disney is preparing a new musical starring one of its most beloved characters, Mary Poppins , a film of real action to be directed by Rob Marshall (“Into the Woods”) more than 50 years after the release of the original film.
According to reports the online edition of the specialized Entertainment Weekly magazine, the film, which will be produced by John DeLuca and Marc Platt two decades will take place in London after the events of “Mary Poppins” (1964) starring Julie Andrews , which won the Oscar for his paper- and Dick Van Dyke.
The duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (“Hairspray”, “Smash”) compose original songs for the new soundtrack while David Magee (“Finding Neverland”) will do the script of the film.
The project has the approval of the Travers family and has the approval of Richard Sherman, one of the composers of the original film with his brother Robert and author of the famous song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” . EFE
