When the singer Elton John received a call that seemed to be the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, thought it would be a great opportunity to discuss the homophobic laws in this country but all would have tried a bad joke.

The recording of the call was broadcast on a video that was posted on YouTube where John says that the meeting between them in November will be “fantastic”.
Not realizing that everything were a joke, Elton John truly believed that he had spoken with the Russian president, who thanked him in his Instagram account. “With President Vladimir Putin to find me and talk on the phone with me today I hope to find face to face for discuss LGBT equality in Russia . “

Later the singer realized the joke and went back to his Instagram account to leave a positive message about it.
“The jokes are funny. Homophobia, however, is never funny,” said John who then said his offer to talk with Putin about LGBT rights even remains .
“If this unfortunate incident has helped propel this vital issue back into the public eye, then I’m happy to have fallen into a joke this time .”
