The Municipality of Miraflores joins the Peruvian Cooperation Committee of UNESCO (COMUNESCO), the Ministry of Culture and the Association of Jazz in Lima to celebrate for the second consecutive year the “International Jazz Day”.
This event, to be held on Thursday, April 30, at 5:00 pm in the Park The Lighthouse Marina (Malecón Cisneros block 15, Miraflores), invites all fans of this genre and audience generally enjoy an afternoon concert with the best exponents of jazz city and international guests.
The celebration will involve Quartet Carlos Guerrero, young people who are part of a new generation musicians; and will close the evening with the band Jazz Association of Lima, formed by guitarist Diego Salvador Vargas, the pianist Francisco Haya de la Torre, drummer Juan Francisco Chavez and saxophonist Gonzalo Polar; all musicians prestigious races developed in Peru and abroad, who will offer us special arrangements of classic jazz showing the different influences of this music, to lead Andean rhythms and Afro-Peruvians.
As special guests Italian trumpeter Marco Aglioti be taken, master saxophonist Carlos Espinoza, and other international artists that add to the festivities.
On the International Day of Jazz
For the year 2011 declared April 30 as the International Day of UNESCO Jazz.La with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz celebrated this date worldwide. Also, in April it became the month of Jazz. Since around this time a network of worldwide celebrations is created, the same as they are articulated by UNESCO through their official website: www.jazzday.com
About the Association Jazz Lima
The Lima Jazz Association (AJL) is a cultural non-profit association composed of musicians, music teachers from prestigious institutions of the country (PUCP School of Music and UPC), cultural managers and producers among other professionals, all jazz lovers. In order to influence the spread of Jazz at the national level, the AJL obtained the sponsorship of the Peruvian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO for the celebration of International Jazz Day on April 30, 2014 and 2015.
