In Catalonia has held a new Saint George, pattern Catalunya, but also a solid literary festival, the years pass and continues to have loyal audience of all classes and ages even from outside the Principality. Also, besides the Catalan and Spanish authors, have been internationally renowned foreign authors who have signed their books with the same enthusiasm. All of them, as usual, were distributed throughout Barcelona in several positions.

The tradition of truth Sant Jordi is in the book and the rose, although this is already equal, being equal to them that for them. This year there was a poster really liked on the Internet: the illustrator Joan Turu has decided to break with the “gender stereotypes” and has shown a princess declaring his love for Sant Jordi giving her a rose, knee, and he receiving it excited and with folded hands. A nice way to update the tradition, since it says it was Sant Jordi who pleaded the princess by giving her a rose.

According to Guild of Llibreters, bestselling authors Sant Jordi in 2015 were, in Catalan, “algU com tu” Xavier Bosch (fiction) and “is l ‘Time dels ADEUS “ Xavier Sala i Martin (nonfiction). There is also growing presence of women writers, because it is they who read more and make the publishing business bookselling work. Milena Tusquets, daughter of Esther, has gone the way of his mother as a writer, but with style, despite the overwhelming personality of his mother. He also had the support of her husband, politician, with this very clear statement: “You devote yourself to literature, I dedicate myself to the Policy”

But there. a classic Catalan literature has been reissued these days and has been sold in Sant Jordi, though written in Spanish, writes the author, Eduardo Mendoza: “The Facts in the Case Savolta “ published just 40 years ago, in 1975. Mendoza and Pere Gimferrer, editor Seix Barral, remember he would be entitled ” Soldiers Catalunya “ inspired by a popular children’s song, but franquita censor who saw separatist everywhere ” suggested “ change. His literary style revolutionized the literature of the time, although the before mentioned censor qualified novel “stupid” and “without rhyme or reason.”
