REDACCIÓN.- The 30th of April was declared by UNESCO as the International Jazz Day.

The commemoration of this popular music genre began in 2011, seeking to promote freedom and cultural dialogue through language that we understand all human beings, regardless of differences of race or language. The language of music

You may wonder why jazz, and this is a genre in which the musicians do not speak another language than the music, thus allowing anyone in the world can enjoy it.

The musicality of the instruments through improvisation is paramount, being the singing voice or letters something unusual in the compositions.

The musicians started playing a composition in which each instrument has its share, but to reach a certain point on the workpiece begin improvisations, each creative moment while the rest takes the basic rhythm part. The feast ends with a return to the composition that everyone knows.

The jazz, also known as the music of the musicians, will be held at large in Paris, the city selected as global host this year.

According to UNESCO, France is “the second home of jazz after the United States, and since the First World War, Paris has become one of the main centers for the creation and dissemination of this genre in worldwide “.

The Parisian streets, and even the waters of its flagship river Seine, will be filled with concerts, classes, lectures and jameos (our Dominican word for that exciting time when musicians get together to improvise with their instruments and “see” what happens), and other activities taking place in 20 districts in the French city.

The festival will conclude with the All -Star Concert, a show at the headquarters of UNESCO in which the great act of world jazz scene; artists like Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau, Dhafer Youssef, and many others. The musical direction of the evening will be led by American musician John Beasley.

However, France is not the only country that will be celebrating the genre. Our city of Santo Domingo beat him four days ago, then under the motto “Celebrating Jazz for a week” many Dominicans and other Caribbean islands musicians have been meeting to jazzear .

Dominican Jazz, Trurismo and the Ministries of Culture, the Embassy of the United States, the National Conservatory of Music, the Eduardo Leon Jimenes Cultural Center are some of the entities that are celebrating jazz, with the endorsement of the Dominican National Commission for UNESCO, the International Jazz Day and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.

Our celebrations therefore remain registered as official within the events that have taken place internationally to commemorate this day.
