The Museum of Altamira (northern Spain) resumes today “normally” limited views that are promoted for more than a year ago to assess the human presence in the cave, with a new drawing that have come elected two US , a Norwegian and two Spaniards.

After the break on these visits since last February, Altamira the recovered today with a format that remains almost unchanged since it began over a year ago, in February 2014. Each week, five people plus a guide are chosen in a random drawing from among those registered to visit the replica.

These visits provide an opportunity for those chosen to enter the cave of Altamira, which remains closed to the public since 2002 and has a replica that was inaugurated in 2001.

Finally Altamira Museum Board of March 26 decided to resume the experimental visits after finding that the human presence in the cavity is not “significant” and that its impact on the conservation of the paintings is “imperceptible”.

From the Museum today told Efe that this new round of experimental visits the number of people who came to the Museum of Altamira, in Santillana del Mar (Cantabria), was very similar to that of any Friday these dates, although the presence of media.

The number of participants in the almost traditional drawing, which took place at 10.45, was also similar to other times, more than fifty people.
