Percy Sledge , the American musician of soul and R & B known for its theme When a Man Loves a Woman , died at 74 years at his home in Baton Rouge, United States. The renowned artist had long battling cancer, according to his agent Steve Green to the station ABC News .
Sledge, who in 1966 launched his theme that became internationally popular, had a musical career spanning over half a century with other Romantics, such as Warm and Tender Love, I’ll Be Your Everything and Sunshine.
It was incorporated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Roll in 2005 .
