A time when men were freer and women earned space. In that sense, men insist on keeping the series, based on obsolete rituals, the last male hope in order to be extinct. Don Draper, Roger Sterling and all his followers are thus the only heroes standing of a doomed generation to be the last of his kind.

The group is led by Don Draper (a role he was forced to make Jon Hamm star), a man with a complicated past (actually called Dick Whitman, the son of a prostitute and stole the identity of a dead beside her soldier war); a successful but complicated present (separated twice, has two children, his first ex-wife hates it) and a future millionaire, but just as complicated as anyone who looks back at her life as the world falls down around him.
Around him walk, primarily, the timid and industrious Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), the donjuanesco Roger (John Slattery), the voluptuous Joan (Christina Hendricks) and ambitious Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser), among others coterie of an advertising agency where the day begins with a meeting with vodka and cigarettes, essential ingredients of the basic diet of the place. Mad Men The name comes from a pun on Madison Avenue where advertising agencies in New York and Mad (“Crazy”) are. The action begins in a fictitious agency Sterling & amp; Cooper, but in the history of advertising real milestones and American history are mentioned.
The idea of this ghostly world is clear in the first chapter of this season end, “Severance”. Draper lives surrounded by casual lovers dream but when one of his first loves (first season) and learns that died that begins to fall into a melancholy that, it appears, will consume throughout the season.
Peggy, who is the other main character of the story, is also aware that it is not the same as that of eight years ago. The first half of the seventh season of Mad Men ended in a historic moment: all the characters, with their own dramas, saw live and direct the landing of Neil Armstrong.
