Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco was born in Padua on May 4, 1655 and died on 27 January 1731. The Italian became world famous for being the inventor of the piano .
Regarding his early life, no precise data . However, a legend, was apprenticed to the great violin maker Nicolò Amati , from whom he learned a lot about music.

In an attempt to build the piano, Cristofori created the spinettone , which it was a kind of harpsichord with the strings inclined to save space; and after a few years, he invented the oval spinettone , which was kind of a virgin with the longest string in the middle of the box.
According to Wikipedia, the first mention on the Piano invention comes from a diary of Francesco Mannucci , musician Medici court, which indicates that Cristofori already worked in the piano near 1698 . The total number of pianos constructed by Cristofori is Unknown . Only three survive today , all dating from the early 1720 .
