"If this night did not win, anyway I’ll be happy," said Iris Mittenaere, 24-year-old, who was enshrined in the Philippines as the second Miss Universe of French history.

The last time that the beauty pageant had been held a queen european was in 2002. The first (and until last night) the only French to reach the merit was Christiane Martel, 1953. Martel won in just the second edition of the contest world’s most popular.

Your participation during the preliminaries and the gala was always among the favorites of the critics and experts.

The host show , Steve Harvey, drew with silence the last few seconds before announcing the winner of the contest.

In a gesture of solidarity, Mittenaere held the hands of the other finalist, the haitian Raquel Pélissier.

The third finalist, the colombian Andrea Tovar waited for the result to one side of the stage. Like Miss France and Miss Haiti, the queen of the colombian answered with ease and confidence the question that defined the final result of the contest: what you have failed in your life and quéaprendiste of this experience?

however, the candor in the voice of Mittenaere was decisive for his victory: "I’ve failed several times in my life," he replied. "When you fail you have to get up and move forward," he said, smiling.

After deleting the mode from the top 15, the organization of the contest announced that the first cut of the contest would be twelve beauty queens. However, opened the possibility of including a winning over.

Thanks to the public vote, with more than 100 million votes in his favor, he advanced so Miss Thailand, Chalita Suansane.

Although latinas were half of the seats, the big surprise was the absence of a favorite: Miss Venezuela, Mariam Habach. The south american country is not left out of a top from the 2010.

The recent spate of Latin did not survive the first cuts: Peru, Panama, and Brazil went out of the competition before the top 9 , along with Indonesia.

Mexico out of the competition along with the united States and Canada.

This last had the catwalk of Miss Universe in spite of the strong criticism it received on social networks by your body portly.

Kenya moved up to the first few questions when he had to evaluate the expectations of the government of Donald Trump and the beauty queen tripped in the ropes of his own words.

Haiti, on the other hand has advanced to the top 3 thanks to an impeccable and, in addition, a large domain of their answers in front of the judges.

Trips

The only hint of Miss Costa Rica, Carolina Rodriguez, it was during the catwalk presentation. The income of the 86 misses was, for the first time, integrated to a musical presentation in vivo. Rapper Flo Rida was placed in the center of the parade and set the pace for the rest of the presentation: dynamic, fast-paced and with minimal time to see the smile of Carolina between the surge of contestants.

With the return of Steve Harvey as a host, your most grievous sin during the last contest has not passed by unnoticed for a second.

The host of Miss Universe came to the stage, apologizing for having crowned the queen wrong (Miss Colombia 2015) and said that, after an operation of eyes, I would have no problems reading the card with the name of the winner.

That was the mention of more evening to the matter, because Harvey insisted on reminding to the Miss Universe when they took the stage before the first elimatoria. The host asked him point-blank about how he had left his image in that country after the highly publicized stumble.

"Many will hate it", he replied in English Andrea Tovar with the face of a distressed, before you say in Spanish: "I forgive You, in the name of my country. We know that to err is human."

Flo Rida was not the only musician to liven up the competition. Before announcing the winner of the contest, the group noventero Boyz II Men gave an intense serenade to the Miss France, Miss Haiti and Miss Colombia at the pace of I’ll Make Love to You.

Before you face the last round, the queens of beauty crossed the catwalk with their gowns, and each received from the hand of one of the singers, a red rose.

The new changes in the presentation of the contest gave fluidity to the breaks of the contest. However, except for the stumbling verbal Miss Kenya, there was another memorable moment in which to think about.
