NEW YORK (AP) — While continues to celebrate the legacy of David Bowie as the only singer in Latin america in a series of concerts in tribute to the late English musician, Gaby Moreno adjusts his schedule to attend the first-called of the Grammy awards.

The singer-songwriter from guatemala, nominated for the first time at the Grammy anglo for his album "Illusion," he said Tuesday to The Associated Press that he was "looking forward to" the 12 of February, when to make delivery of awards in his adopted Los Angeles.

"I’m with a happiness huge to share it with colleagues that I admire so much," said the winner of the Latin Grammy for best new artist in 2013. "The fact of being nominated is a thrill tremendous, and the day of the Grammys it’s going to be a party, we will pass very well with everyone and that is what illusion gives me, to be able to share this day celebrating the arts and celebrating the creativity and inspiration that we need so much these days."

The interpreter of "Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps" and "Blues of the sea", who rose to international stardom in 2011 of the hand of his compatriot Ricardo Arjona with the success "it was you", will be measured by the golden gramophone for best album of Latin pop with Jesse & Joy ("One kiss more"), Laura Pausini ("Similar"), Sanalejo ("to beat") and Diego Torres ("Good life").

"Illusion", which went on sale in September, features five songs in English and eight in Spanish and addressed topics as varied as the heartbreak, the immigrant experience and the violence against women, in titles such as "turned off" (with a version in English, in duo with the musician Johnny P., "Love is Gone"), "Border", "Curse / Blessing", "Illusion", "If I could" and "every man for himself", among others. It also includes a beautiful version of the classic "La malagueña", or "Malagueña avoiding", accompanied by the musician David Garza on guitar.

The artist was in New York to participate Tuesday night in a tribute to Bowie on his first death anniversary.

The show, held at the Terminal 5 in Manhattan, and in which she performed the songs "Five Years", "Wild is the Wind" and "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" from the English singer, was part of an initiative that began in the theatre los angeles The Roxy a few days before the death of Bowie and this week also took her to London, specifically to the Brixton home of the artist, on the day of his birth. Among the special guests have been the award-winning English actor Gary Oldman, a personal friend of Bowie and also a musician, and an upcoming presentation will participate the Sting, said Moreno.

"The nice thing is that they are nothing more than the musicians who played with David Bowie that were part of his band for more than 20 years," said the guatemalan with evident satisfaction. "It is a luxury to be singing their songs and not just singing their songs, but with the group that accompanied him for so long. … Of truth that is an honor of the greatest that I have ever had in my life celebrarle the legacy of this icon".

Despite that had no chance of meeting him or even saw him sing live, Moreno described Bowie as one of her "biggest influences".

When she moved to Los Angeles a little over 15 years, he recalled, he discovered through his friends to the music of Bowie and felt an immediate connection.

"I was captivated, I fell in love with him, of his person, of how he was able to be a chameleon," he said. "There is no other artist like him."
