The SAR announces record queries online in 2016, almost 70 million per month – The Press of Honduras

The Dictionary of the Spanish Language (DLE) of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) recorded an average of nearly 70 billion queries per month after a "spectacular" increase in 2016, a year in which there were 800 million with questions of meaning, orthographic, or morphological.

The words resilience, bizarre, procrastinate or paradigm are among the more questions they generate, according to a report of RAE published yesterday. While in 2014 and 2015 was virtually the same queries, in 2016, the monthly average was 67 million, although they rose to achieve, in October, 78,8 million, the highest figure of the year. The increased access, with respect to 2015, was 58%.

The majority of queries came from Spain, with 306 million and the 38,98% of the total. We continue to Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, USA, Venezuela, Ecuador, Uruguay, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Brazil.

The online version of the 23rd edition of the dictionary, that expands the possibilities of searching and browsing and free of charge, is available, thanks to the collaboration of Obra Social "la Caixa", from the October 21, 2015.
