Iranian Director won’t attend ceremony of the Oscars because of a veto Trump – Telemundo

The iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, director of Oscar nominee, will not attend the award ceremony of the Academy Awards next month after the executive order of president Donald Trump on immigration, refusing to even be granted an exception to travel.

In a statement to the newspaper The New York Times,, Farhadi said he previously planned to attend the event with his director of photography, but now will not make it to the light of the executive order Trump signed on Friday allowing the refugees to enter the united States for at least 120 days.

The order also prohibited the citizens of seven muslim-majority countries to enter the united States, including Syria, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, and Iran, the country of Farhadi.

“I have decided not to attend the ceremony of the Academy awards along with my colleagues in the film community,” said Farhadi, whose film The Salesman compete for the prize of Best Film in a Foreign Language.

“I Express my condemnation of the unjust conditions imposed on some of my fellow-countrymen and to the citizens of the other six countries who try to enter legally into the united States and I hope that the current situation does not give rise to more division among the nations”, he added.

Trita Parsi, president of the National Council of Iranian American, reported on the status of Farhadi in a tweet: “To Asghar Farhadi, of Iran, will not be allowed to enter the united States to attend the ceremony of the Oscar”.

A day before Trump’s signing of the executive order, the actress Taraneh Alidoosti announced that ‘ boycott the awards ceremony to show their objection to the ban.

On Twitter, the actress of 33 years, said: “The ban on visas Trump to the iranian people is racist, whether that includes a cultural event or not, I’m not going to attend the #AcademyAwards 2017 in protest”.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered Sunday in the second day of protests in cities and airports across the country, while new immigrant groups and civil rights continue to be legal action to help the legal immigrants to enter the country after Trump signed the controversial travel ban.

About 200 people will be affected by the failure, estimated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Another film from Farhadi The Separation (2012), won an Oscar as Best Foreign language Film five years ago and his nomination this latest marks the third occasion in history that an iranian film has been recognized by the Academy.
