Since its premiere at the Venice film Festival “La La Land” is on everyone’s lips, and his success at the Golden Globes, where she has broken records with 7 awards, and 11 nominations at the Bafta british to confirm it as one of the movies of the year.

These are the keys to the film that has risen to the fever by the film and musical that comes to the majority of Latin american countries throughout this month of January:

And the actors who embody, for the moment, have already been carried out each one her first Golden Globe.

2.- A HYMN to THE GLAMOUR OF the MUSICAL CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD film harks back to the golden era of the musicals of Hollywood’s “The Wizard of Oz” or “Singin’ in the Rain” and at the same time it updates and refreshes the genre with a story and characters modern.

3.- RYAN GOSLING AND EMMA STONE, PURE CHEMISTRY, The complicity between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone had already been demonstrated in films like “Crazy Stupid Love” (2011) and “Gangster Squad” (2013). In “La La Land” re-form a magical tandem that the director compares it with couples like Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn or Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.

4.- THE DIRECTOR, DAMIEN CHAZELLE, A YOUNG TALENT ON the RISE, Damien Chazelle (Rhode Island, 1985) was released with the hypnotic “Whiplash” (2013), an exploration of the obsession with the triumph in the world of music that was nominated for five Oscars and took three. I had already researched into the music genre of “Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench” (2009), their project of end of career.

5.- INFLUENCES: JACQUES DEMY AND “THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG” Chazelle is a lover of the musical genre, but especially of the films of the French Jacques Demy, who broke moulds in the sixties with their music in pastel shades such as “The umbrellas of Cherbourg”, “The young girls of Rochefort” and “A room in the city.”

6.- SCENARIOS: A LOVE LETTER TO THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES Small jazz clubs, waiting rooms, castings, apartments step and cafes of the big studios where they cross the famous and would-be thieves are some of the scenarios for the lag in the movie. It also appears the Griffith Park Observatory in “Rebel Without a Cause” and less known jewels of the city like the Lighthouse Cafe in Redondo Beach, 1949.

7.- MUSIC AND CHOREOGRAPHY: JUSTIN HURWITZ AND MANDY MOORE The creative partnership of Chazelle with the composer Justin Hurwitz dates back to his earlier films. Next to them, the lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, specializing in Broadway musicals, the musical producer of “Moulin Rouge”, Marius de Vries and the choreography of Mandy Moore. The song “City of stars”, played by Gosling and Stone, it takes weeks playing on the radio, and took the Golden Globe.

8.- “LA LA LAND” TO “BLADE RUNNER”, RYAN GOSLING IS ON a roll This is the year of Ryan Gosling. In “La La Land” not only sings and dances. He has also learned to play the piano. There is double hands in any plane. His penchant for challenges has made it clear before in “Blue Valentine” or “Drive”, and in 2017 debut also the hugely anticipated sequel to “Blade Runner”, the new Terrence Malick, and a biography of astronaut Neil Armstrong, directed by Chazelle.

9.- VISUAL STYLE: SHOOTING PANORAMIC, VIBRANT COLORS Visually Chazelle opt for the panoramic format and the vibrant colors in the tradition of the cinemascope and the technicolor adapted to the XXI century. Their camera movements drink of Max Ophuls and Scorsese for “Raging bull”. Photography by Linus Sandgren, who has worked with David O. Russell in “American Hustle” and “Joy”.

10.- OTHER ACTORS: JOHN LEGEND AND J. K. SIMMONS, The film features minor roles with the singer and composer winner of ten Grammy awards John Legend, or with J. K. Simmons, winner of the Oscar with “Whiplash” for his implacable music teacher.
