Humphrey Bogart, the eternal heartthrob of Hollywood – the avant-Garde.com.mx

The american producer Stephen Bogart has already lived 11 years longer than his famous father. And is that the only son of Humphrey Bogart was only eight years old when the legendary heartthrob of Hollywood, passed away January 14, 1957. He was 57 years old and was suffering from a cancer of the esophagus.

“I don’t have many memories of him, 60 years is a long time,” says Stephen in a telephone conversation with dpa. “But there is a moment that takes me back to the mind again and again, and it is when I was with him surfing,” she recalls. “I don’t think that was the type of man that is handled well with small babies. And I could not live how he would have been with an older child,” says his father, who finally found the love of his life in fourth nuptials.

the year was 1944, during the filming of “to Have and have not”, when the star of “Casablanca” knew the newly discovered Lauren Bacall, he was 19 years old. “Does anyone have fire?”, was wondering this in the first scene that both of them shared. And Bogart fell in love with it as ever. Three weeks later, kissed her for the first time in the locker rooms, and a year later were married. In 1949 he was born to Stephen and three years, Leslie Howard.

After adapting the novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway, the couple filmed three other movies: the classics of film noir “The eternal sleep” (or “on The edge of the abyss”), “The path to darkness” and the classic John Huston “Cayo Largo” (“Hurricane of passions”). Bacall survived “Bogie” 57 years and passed away in August of 2014, at 89. “He had his own life, also without my father,” says his son. “He won some Tony and an Oscar, honorary, and wrote a bestseller”.
