‘The Revenant’ by Iñárritu achieves 12 nominations Oscar – Milenio.com

‘The Revenant’, by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, tops the list of Oscar nominees with 12 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Oscar nominations for ‘The Revenant’ jurisdiction announced just days after the film triumphed at the Golden Globes and gives the possibility of taking Inarritu for the second consecutive year the statuette from the Academy. Inarritu won last year with ‘Birdman’

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’., George Miller, follows closely with 10 nominations, including Best Picture. The sci-fi epic Ridley Scott ‘The Martian’ got seven nominations, including Best Picture, but he did not deserve one to Scott as a director.

Eight films were nominated for best picture. The other five are: Tom McCarthy’s drama about investigative journalism ‘Spotlight’, the Cold War thriller from Steven Spielberg ‘Bridge of Spie’ Adam McKay adaptation of ‘The Big Short’ by Michael Lewis, drama A mother and son in captivity ‘Room’ and the story of Irish immigration ‘Brooklyn’.

Outside the acclaimed lesbian romance of Todd Haynes’ Carol ‘and NWA biopic’ Straight Outta stayed Compton ‘.

As for performances, which notably did not include Idris Elba for’ Beasts of No Nation ‘and Benicio Del Toro’ Sicario ‘, all nominees were white like last year when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was heavily criticized for this.

The president of the Academy, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, had increased paradiversificar efforts to its members, and appointed Chris Rock as host for This year’s ceremony, to be held in Los Angeles on February 28.

In the category of best actress Brie Larson’s favorite figure for ‘Room’, with Jennifer Lawrence (“Joy”), Cate Blanchett (‘Carol’), Saoirse Ronan (‘Brooklyn’) and Charlotte Rampling (’45 Years’).

The delivery 88 Academy Award will be held next February 28.
