“Star Wars: Episode VIII” delayed its premiere until December 2017 – Terra Colombia

The eighth episode of “Star Wars” will be released on December 15, 2017 after Disney, which owns the rights to the series, announced today that it will delay its launch, earlier scheduled for May 26 next year.

The film, which is right now in pre-production, will continue the plot of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and will address Rian Johnson and the actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac in the cast.

The relaunch in December 2015 of the series conceived by George Lucas was very successful and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” directed by JJ Abrams, accumulated to date more than 1,800 million dollars in box office receipts worldwide.

However, the release date of the film “Rogue One” is maintained, the first “spin-off” of “Star Wars”, which hit screens 16 December 2016 with a story that follows a group of rebels trying to steal the plans for the Death Star.

The cast of “Rogue One” include Felicity Jones, the Mexican Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker and Mads Mikkelsen, among others.

Disney also reported today that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.

The film will feature Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and the actors Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Spanish Javier Bardem.
