Accused of damaging the mask of Tutankhamen – The Tribuno.com.ar

Eight officers and employees of the Cairo Museum repaired with glue accused of the death mask of Tutankhamun, 3,300 years old, face administrative sanctions, told reporters yesterday the prosecution.

The former director of the Egyptian Museum, the director of catering, four directors and two employees of the department were “cited by a court of urgency to appear before a disciplinary tribunal,” he told reporters Samir Mohamed, spokesman for prosecutors Cairo.

The eight employees “tried a piece of over 3,300 years old with extreme neglect (…) causing him damage are still visible,” said Samir.

In the statement, the prosecution detailed the officials face charges of “gross negligence” and “flagrant violation of scientists and restoration processes.”
