Ai Weiwei withdraws his works from Denmark in protest at the asylum law – Terra Peru

The Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei today decided to close an exhibition in Copenhagen and remove one of his works Aros Museum in the west of the country, in protest against the new laws Danish asylum.

The Faurschou Foundation of the Danish capital announced the closure of the sample through a statement, where it is found that its leaders share the artist’s decision.

“Ai Weiwei has decided to close its exhibition ‘Ruptures’ decision we regret and we support,” said the statement, “given that the Danish Parliament has elected placed in front of symbolic policies and inhuman face the greatest humanitarian crisis today, in Europe and the Middle East. ”

The closing of this exhibition follows the announcement released by the artist in his account of the social network Instagram, in relation to the withdrawal of one of his works exhibited at the museum Aros at western Denmark.

In his message on Instagram, released by the museum management, Ai said he was “very surprised” by the move.

“As a result of this unfortunate decision will have to withdraw from your exposure to express my protest against the decision of the Danish government,” he writes the artist, who had given a human figure twelve meter made of bamboo and named “Yu Yi” sample “A new dynasty. Made in China.”

Located in the town of Aarhus, the second largest population of Denmark, Aros is one of the major museums of contemporary Danish art.

The Danish Parliament yesterday approved a reform of immigration laws that allow confiscate money and valuables asylum seekers to pay for their stay in this Nordic country and limiting access to family reunification.
