Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in favor of racial diversity in Hollywood – ABC Color

MEXICO. US actors Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in Mexico demonstrated today in favor of racial diversity in Hollywood, in response to the controversy surrounding the nominations for the upcoming Oscars.

Ferrell and Wahlberg in the Mexican capital offered a press conference to present the film War Dads , directed by Sean Anders . “It’s difficult because everyone in Hollywood have to be visionaries always look for projects that are ethically different,” Ferrell, 48 said with Wahlberg and also participate on a red carpet to promote the film.

The comic noted that perhaps should not question on the subject of diversity actors. “I think (the question) is to study” but “I always support diversity,” he added. Sarcastically, Ferrell said that by not being nominated for the Oscar he will not deliver award, as announced by actors like Will Smith or directors as Spike Lee , in protest because there are no interpreters black among the candidates for the statuette.

Meanwhile, Wahlberg said his work is not intended to be recognized by the academy that delivers an Oscar but to succeed at the box office, but he said that there are many talented people whom their work is not recognized in the cinema. “One must do the best job possible; I’ve never made a film to be recognized by the Academy. If that occurs, fantastic; and if not, always do the movies and say ‘Alright, this company invested in me, so I make sure to be as successful at the box office as possible,’ “he explained.

He said that in the end the Film is a business: “If my film has no blockbuster will not hire me again, I will not stop working and busy, outside, talented has no opportunities.” On diversity, Wahlberg said that no matter if the actors are black, white, Latino or Asian, but Hollywood has to “continue to support a greater diversity”.

A week ago, actor Will Smith announced that not attend the ceremony of the Oscars, which will be held on February 28 to protest the lack of black performers among the candidates for the acting awards of the Academy of Hollywood. In addition, the director Spike Lee announced he would not attend the Oscars while actors like Idris Elba , George Clooney , Lupita Nyong’o Mark Ruffalo , among others, supported the protest.
