Campaign to raise funds tape Orson Welles – The Universal

The producer Frank Marshall and filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich , among others, have launched a campaign of “crowdfunding” on the Internet to raise two million dollars to allow completion of the unfinished film Orson Welles “The Other Side of the Wind”.

JJ Directors Abrams, Clint Eastwood, Wes Anderson, Noah Baumbach Steven Soderbergh or have supported this initiative, launched in the “Indiegogo ‘page and has raised almost $ 25,000 in the first 12 hours.

The film, starring John Huston, he was shot by Welles intervals between 1970 and 1976, which did not finish it because of lack of funds. It was a very personal project, the story of a director rundown after moving to Europe decides to return to Hollywood to revive his career.

The Bogdanovich himself and Dennis Hopper, Lillie Palmer and Oja Kodar, complete the cast.

The campaigners say that, if they reach their goal, for what you have marked a period of 40 days, will complete the postproduction of the film and are confident they can release it this year, coinciding with the centenary of his birth.

This process, they say, will be done respecting the 40-minute montage made Welles himself and following the detailed instructions that he left written the filmmaker.

The minimum contribution is $ 10 and maximum of 25 000 and in exchange offered from a link to download a copy on DVD or a book of previously unpublished photographs, posters and limited edition cigars, tickets for the premiere World or one of the original cans in which the film rolls were kept.

The maximum reward is a copy of the film in 35 mm. Originally self-financed and inspired by a conversation with Ernest Hemingway, the draft Welles was then a combination of German funds, Spanish and Iranian. According to Marshall and have Bogdanovich, things went wrong when “vanished with a producer of the money” and because of the Iranian revolution.

The last years of his life, added, Welles were spent trying again acquire control of the film, for which he accepted “mediocre” work as an actor in film, television and advertising.
In 2014, Filip Jan Rymsza, Frank Marshall and Jens Koethner Kaullos reached an agreement to buy the rights to complete the film as desired by Welles.
