Suite Noire is a series that compiles eight episodes-film unit, each the result of an encounter between a novelist and filmmaker. Each episode features a hard crime story in the tradition of class B movies, exploring the nuances of various film genres, from thriller to social realism, and by way of moral (or immoral) fables, with macabre and romantic overtones.
Suite Noire gives a dark and ironic look at contemporary society, its dark sides and murky motives. In each episode – or film, in this case – decent life and criminals, innocent or guilty, or inept serial murderers, citizens are woven into amazing stories, some based on real events.
The series aired in France in prime time with great success and acclaim received by the press and critics, and features outstanding performances of actors award-winning Caesar and Molière as Manuel Blanc, Julie-Marie Parmentier, and Niels Arestrup, among others . Each of the stories was originally written by renowned journalists, poets and novelists like Hervé Prudon French, Didier Daeninckx, Marc Villard, Romain Slocombe.
