Lollapalooza Chile, far from Woodstock and about YouTube – The Universal

Lollapalooza Chile experienced its first day Saturday with a parade of groups and local and foreign artists who showed that the festival, which this year reaches its fifth edition, is a youthful, global and multimedia celebration, increasingly far from Woodstock and more about YouTube.

And the test gave this Saturday night two antithetical performances. On the one hand Jack White, the duo exvocalista The White Stripes , and secondly, Skrillex, the great emperor of dubstep in recent times.

The duel between one of the most renowned musicians of the last decade, true legacy heredeo blues rock, contained headlining the festival, and California DJ and producer, was settled in favor of the quirky megastar of the festival circuit.

Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny Moore, lit the first night of Lollapalooza Chile with his throbbing musical pyrotechnics of extraterrestrial origin piloting the show from the top of a huge cockpit, which extraterrestrial aircraft, which emerged above the tide of pilgrims e.

Earlier, The Smashing Pumpkins , one of the great symbols of the alternative rock of the nineties, was presented in one of the six scenarios with a new lineup with Billy Corgan has managed to impart to the band Chicago versatility.

After a year off, the group born in Illinois in 1988, has returned to the stage to present his latest work, “Monuments to an Elegy”, released in December 2014, after the huge success of “Oceania” (2012).

For the tour of the new work, Corgan has enlisted support as musicians exbaterista of Rage Against the Machine, Brad Wilk and bassist of The Killers, Mark Stoermer, a signing tonight proved a success.

Five years after its first performance in Chile, The Smashing Pumpkins opened fire on stage at Lollapalooza with “One and All (We Are)” to then prepare a musical cocktail of classics like “Bullet Whit Butterfly Wings”, ” 1979 “,” Disarm “and recent issues” Being Beige “and” One and All (We Are).

The varied landscape of the Chilean festival were not lacking ethnic rhythms and indigenous folklore by local bands Congress and Matanza and soloists Camila Moreno and Ana Tijoux, representing a musical trend that combines pop and hip hop with electronics and musical tradition.

The fusion of traditional and contemporary Latin American music played on synthesizers works seamlessly with an audience that has no qualms about listening to Victor Jara and Violeta Parra on the basis of electronic beats.

But Lollapalooza is, above all, the window in which the most valuable pieces of indie rock universe of time, such as The Kooks and Foster the People is.

Nine years after conceiving “Naive”, one of the anthems of the British musical pantheon of recent times, the formation of Brighton led by vocalist and guitar Luke Pritchard, demonstrated today in Chile that are still capable of stirring the audience with their influence sixties hits and new songs from rejuvenated multicultural spirit.

With this concert, the third in Chile, the band, which in recent years had not been received enthusiastically by critics, showed the public of Lollapalooza on stage still enjoy a cyclopean musical energy.

The condensed schedule of the festival, which so often plays tricks on the determined not to miss a concert, was condescending to indie rock fans who were chained The Kooks concert with the show of the versatile trio Foster the People, who returned at Lollapalooza for the second consecutive year with the intention of repeating the success of the previous edition.

And though they had never been to this festival, inaugurated the Mexican Molotov Lollapalooza Chile with a successful download and combative hip hop thug who started the torrid atmosphere of one of the best indie rock festival in Latin America.

Today the younger audience, that occupied the front rows facing the stage and not jump although the temperature exceeds 30 degrees in the shade, he taxed the warmest of welcomes a band that in the beginning was compared Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine for its strong social criticism.
