The National Gallery tab Finaldi as new boss – Terra Peru

The National Gallery hired Gabriele Finaldi, currently deputy director of the Prado Museum in Madrid, to direct the London Institution, said Wednesday the gallery, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Britain.

Finaldi, an expert on Italian and Spanish art, will begin its work in August.

The new director, 49, a British national, was curator at the London gallery between 1992 and 2002 before moving to Prado, where He is deputy director of collections and research.

His time in the Madrid museum coincided with a large expansion of the collection.

Under the orders of the outgoing artistic director, Nicholas Penny, gallery London has entered popular exhibitions of artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt. In 2014 it attracted 6.4 million visitors

However, the center’s staff went on strike recently to protest privatization plans
