Author of fantasy literature Die Terry Pratchett – Azteca News

London, United Unido.- The Author fantasy literature Terry Pratchett , creator of the “Discworld” (“Discworld”) series and more than 70 books, has died. He was 66.

Pratchett , who suffered from Alzheimer way that affects younger people than average, had gained respect in Britain and beyond for his campaign for the right of terminally ill patients to choose assisted suicide.

The publisher Transworld said Pratchett died Thursday at his home “with her cat asleep in his bed surrounded by his family.”

The CEO of Transworld Larry Finlay said “The world has lost one of its brightest and sharpest minds.”

The ability to Pratchett to write and talk had deteriorated in recent years as the diagnosis of the disease progressed. But with his trademark black hat and white beard neatly trimmed author remained a public figure. He finished writing his last book in mid-2014.

Pratchett was famous for “Discworld” series of more than 40 comic novels that take place in a fantasy world. He has sold over 65 million books worldwide and his novels have been translated into dozens of languages.

was born and raised in the town of Beaconsfield, the North West London. It was described as a nondescript student attending technical school because he felt the woodwork would be more interesting to learn Latin. He also was interested in radios and computers.

His first story “The Hades Business”, was published in a school magazine when he was 13 and two years later commercially. He used the money he was paid to buy a typewriter and wrote for the rest of his life, working as a journalist and writing novels in his spare time until the success of his fiction enabled him to concentrate on literature full-time.

Pratchett Lyn Purves married in 1968 and published his first novel, “The Carpet People” three years later.

The number of “Discworld “It began in 1983 with the publication of” The Colour of Magic “. It became increasingly popular over time as the fantastic world of Pratchett became more detailed and complex.

He received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in 2009 for his services to literature. He donated $ 1 million to Alzheimer’s research and urged the scientific community to make the fight against this disease a priority.
