ÚN.- The Venezuelan director Gustavo Dudamel has been appointed to lead the Vienna New Year’s Concert in 2017 , announced Friday Vienna Philharmonic after this year, led by the Latvian Mariss Jansons.

Currently director of the Philharmonic Los Angeles, Dudamel, 34, is the director of younger orchestra chosen to date to lead the traditional Viennese concert, dedicated to the waltzes, polkas and marches of Strauss father and son, become the most famous event of classical music in the world.

So far fifteen directors have taken the lead in the Musikverein hall, where the concert was broadcast in 90 countries celebrated.

Among its illustrious predecessors are Herbert von Karajan, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel and Mariss Jansons , whose performance was followed on Friday by 50 million . viewers worldwide
