The film drew 100 million viewers in Spain in 2016 – El Universal (Venezuela)

Madrid, 2 jan (dpa) – last year, the film attracted more than 100 million spectators in Spain, the highest figure since 2009, championed by the film more view of the year: the fantasy drama series A monster comes to see me, by Juan Antonio Bayona.

The data also means the consolidation of the trend registered in five of the last six years, in which a Spanish film stood as the highest-grossing of the year.

In total, the collection of the film in Spain was 601,77 million euros (about 630 million dollars), five percent more in 2015, while the number of viewers is up six percent over the previous year.

After A monster comes to see me, the most widely viewed films were successes for children Pets, Looking for Dory and the jungle book, followed by the drama reborn, for which Leonardo DiCaprio was his first Oscar.

The Spanish cinema achieved a market share of 18.1 percent. In addition to the film of Bayonne, also placed in the top ten of the box office, the historical drama Palm trees in the snow, starring Mario Casas and Adriana Ugarte.
