MADRID (AP) – Spain will seek an Oscar nomination for best film in a foreign language with a film of Pedro Almodóvar

the academy Spanish film selected “Juliet”, the 20th feature by the director, as its representative for the 89th ceremony of the Hollywood Academy Awards, scheduled for February 26. The nominations will be announced on January 24
This is the sixth time that Almodóvar, with two statuettes under his belt, will represent Spain at the Oscars

“Juliet” also competed for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival this year.
the film based on three stories of Canadian writer Alice Munro, is a woman estranged from her adult daughter. Told in flashback, portrays the feeling of guilt and emptiness that afflicts the protagonist.
Spain has won four Oscars for best foreign language film, most recently with “The Sea Inside” by Alejandro Amenabar, in 2004. Almodóvar won in 1999 with “All about my mother”. Also he won an Oscar for best original screenplay in 2003 for “Talk to Her”
