Recovered in Italy, two Van Gogh paintings stolen – The New Dia.com

ROME – The Police antimafia of Naples, in Italy, and recovered two paintings by Vincent Van Gogh that had been stolen in 2002, announced Friday, the museum of the painter in Amsterdam.

The works are in “relatively good condition”, said the museum in a statement posted on its website. The two paintings are “View of the sea at Scheveningen,” 1882, and “Congregation leaving the reformed church in Nuenen,” painted later.

The pictures, “priceless”, were discovered in a record into an operation against a clan of the Camorra of naples, said the police of Naples. The city Police will provide more details of the operation at a press conference later in the day.
