So we pay homage to Freddie Mercury for his birthday [Photos and videos] – Journal Perú21

The music of Freddie Mercury does not sound just on the radio, also it sounds in our head so far . That is the best legacy we can leave a musician. His songs marked a before and after in the history of rock and certainly in the lives of many.

Freddie Mercury was born on September 5, 1946 under the name Farrokh Bulsara in the town of Zanzibar (Tanzania) on the east coast of Africa, but raised in India.

He learned to play the piano at age 8. In the British boarding school for children of Bombay adopted the name Freddie.

In the 1970s -after the call Revolution Zanzíbar- fled with his family to England. Freddie Mercury came to live in a house of London district of Kensington when he was 17.

At this stage of his life, Freddie Mercury studied fashion design and design graphic at the university of West Thames. Such ability would serve him later to create the iconic logo of Queen.

Since then his desire was to form a musical group. Freddie Mercury member of several rock bands, was among them IBEX , Liverpool. In addition, during his university days met Bryan May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums).

Queen is formed with them in 1970. Actually Taylor and May was admitted to Freddie Mercury in his band ‘Smile’. Then he changed the name, though, says the press, they were not quite agree. After testing with several bassists John Deacon joined.

The success of the band came up with numerous hits, including ‘Killer Queen’, ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, ‘Somebody to Love’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody ‘, a song which is considered by many fans as the anthem par excellence of the musical group.

Although this fell on the rock genre, Freddie Mercury is also distinguished by innovation with elements from other styles like pop and even opera . One of them is ‘Love of My Life’.

Queen became internationally recognized offering large concerts in various parts of the world. A curious detail is that Freddie Mercury used to design all the costumes used for presentations. It was bold and did not bother you wear bright colors and tight outfits.

Even in the music video for ‘I Want To Break Free’, appeared using womenswear along with the other members of Queen.

Freddie Mercury came to have 10 cats at home he liked both dedicated a song to one of them: ‘Queen Delilah’

. Freddie Mercury was considered a very private man. Contrary to how it showed up on the stage, he rarely spoke to the press and gave interviews, but this was one of the great exceptions (do not stop to see the 3 parts of the interview. Here we leave the first, the other 2 are YouTube).

Freddie Mercury came out as gay, but 70 had a long relationship as a loving girl named Mary Austin. She left him.

‘All my lovers asked me why can not replace Mary, but it is simply impossible’ Freddie Mercury said at the time. The artist dedicated the song ‘Love Of My Life’.

One of the most memorable concerts of Queen was in 1986 at Wembley Stadium in England. In this, Freddie Mercury wore a crown and cape King while gave the concert. This he did to show everyone who was boss.

In Budapest, Hungary, Freddie Mercury came on stage with a big flag of England and on the back was the Hungary to pay homage to the country where he was.

later, in 1987, Freddie Mercury had an affair with Jim Hutton, A barber who later learned was carrying HIV . The diagnosis was made later the artist was inevitable.

Both lived together during his last years of life. Freddy Mercury died on November 24, 1991. A day earlier publicly announced he had AIDS.

‘The Show Must Go On’ is a song that Brian May wrote to his partner Attacking when his remaining few months of life. The song says that although Freddie Mercury was already succumbing to the disease , the show must go on.

Freddie Mercury was cremated. His ashes were with Mary Austin, who never said what he did with them. In the picture, with Roger Taylor and Clark at his funeral.

In 2002, they were granted the star of Fame in Hollywood.

Finally, this video is part of the documentary ‘the great Pretender’, which show images musician’s 39th birthday . The celebration took place in Munich, Germany, in 1985.
