The first retrospective exhibition of Bruce Davidson, one of the most prominent representatives of the so called photography is humanistic, is presented from today in the sala Bárbara de Braganza, of the Fundación Mapfre, in Madrid, Spain.

The exhibition, which will be open to the public until January 15, 2017, makes a journey throughout his career, of more than 50 years, and presents some of their more famous series such as Brooklyn Gang, East 100th Street and Time of Change: Civil Rights Movement.

The Mapfre Foundation noted that Bruce Davidson, a member of the agency Magnum, he began a passionate relationship with photography from a very young age.

More than responding to a specific style, his work is characterized by a personal vision of the reality in which their art manifests itself not so much in individual images, but in the effect of reiteration and juxtaposition of themes and of characters.

they share an intimacy that has only been possible to access through the charismatic presence of Davidson, who gained the confidence and the access to the life of the people portrayed, even in the most contentious issues, with a surprising ease.

Your work is a reflection of an ethical commitment to the hard realities and the environments are precarious and vulnerable, in which she plays the daily existence of the people photographed.

After passing through Madrid, the exhibition will begin its international tour in Camera, the Italian Centre for Photography in Turin, the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and finally in Bilbao, in the north of Spain.
