As well asserts the lyrics of one of his most beautiful songs, true love waits. After waiting five years for the successor of The King of Limbs, finally A Moon Shaped Pool, the ninth Radiohead album, was released Sunday in digital format. In this paper, five facts about the album in question:
* 1. “True Love Waits”, the big surprise
As we will see in the next points will not escape Radiohead songs by Thom Yorke conceived many years ago. However, inclusion in A Moon Shaped Pool “True Love Waits” was the best gift that made him the band to their fans. The issue included in the live album I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings 2001, was played for the first time in 1995, when the band was in full tour with The Bends, his second ábum. 21 years later, “True Love Waits” came to a studio album and the closing, which is very reminiscent of what happened with “Videotape” in In Rainbows. Thank you, Radiohead.
* 2. “Burn the Witch” present from Hail to the Thief
As we have already noted, Radiohead usually constantly revisiting old issues. “Burn the Witch” is no exception. In fact, the song has been refined since the days of disco Hail to the Thief , 2003. For evidence, an image of disc art that was in charge of Stanley Donwood – regular collaborator of the band – and in which we can read an excerpt from the lyrics of the song ( “cheer at the Gallows”). On the other hand, it should be noted that other known band as “Identikit”, “Ful Stop” and “Silent Spring” compositions also entered the record, although the latter under the title “The Numbers”.
* 3. Finally, “Present Tense” has its studio version
Songs like “Lift”, “Follow Me Around”, “Big Boots / (Man-O-War)” are true classics of Radiohead that were never recorded for a disc. Everything indicated that “Present Tense” would run with the same fate, but some live Thom Yorke where the song was part of the setlist kept hopes alive. And rightly so. The issue effectively integrates A Moon Shaped Pool
This was the first time that Yorke performed “Present Tense” in 2009 at the Latitude festival:
* 4. The disc has few unreleased songs
For those who have closely followed “previous” album, most songs (except “Daydreaming,” “Decks Dark”, “Tinker Tailer Soldier Sailor Rich Man, Poor Man Beggar Man Thief “) as we have noted, will be familiar. However, Radiohead know what arrangements to make them sound like new.
* 5. 52 minutes, 11 songs
A Moon Shaped Pool lasts 52 minutes and consists of eleven songs grouped in alphabetical order are closer to the shoegaze and that is quite distanced from its predecessor disk.
