The Spanish police said they arrested seven people suspected of involvement in the theft of five paintings Irish-born painter Francis Bacon worth 25 million euros (27.8 million dollars).
the owner of the works reported the theft of paintings and other values to the police in July and none of the paintings have been recovered yet.
in February investigators received information from a British company had received a request to verify the provenance of a work of art.
Photographs of the paintings by Bacon were included in the evaluation and these led to the arrests of suspects.
Bacon often visited Madrid, where he spent time studying ancient paintings in the Museo del Prado, and died here in 1992 at age 82.
