Propose to create the Encyclopedia of Latin American Literature – proceso.com.mx

MEXICO CITY (approved) .- During his participation at the XVIII Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Culture, which is carried out within the framework of the XXV Summit of Heads of State and Government in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia , secretary of Culture of the federal government, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, proposed the creation of an Encyclopedia of Latin American literature, in the manner of which already exists on the web for Mexican literature.

the meeting which is “Youth, entrepreneurship and education” slogan, and is divided into four areas: 1) Youth coexistence, cohesion and peace building, 2) training, production, management and the right to culture, 3) public Policy for training, youth and entrepreneurship and 4) cultural Endeavors, Tovar y de Teresa, explained the idea:

“the Ministry of Culture of Mexico supports the efforts made by the Foundation for the Mexican Letters to which is accessed for free via the Internet (http: www.elem.mx/) and today is visited by an average of three thousand people daily, allowing valuable information on topics and authors who have helped shape the literature produced in Mexico, including authors from other countries who in various ways have been linked to ours. “

E issued an invitation for ministers and officials attending the Ibero-American conference to join the initiative and find criteria and methods to help transform the Mexican encyclopedia in a great encyclopedia of Latin American literature and offer the world about the “wealth that our people have contributed with enormous talent and creativity to universal culture”.

it is noteworthy that the Mexican encyclopedia offers information on authors, obas, aesthetic and groups, publications and institutions, has a section of videos and audios, and a library that leads to the collections of public domain digitized by institutions like UNAM, the Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes and own Ministry of Culture.

in a statement, that agency reports that Tovar also spoke of the programs carried out by the institution in charge, including Culture in Harmony whose purpose is to contribute to the prevention of violence and rebuilding the social fabric of the country and call Digital Cultural Agenda, which also has the ability to create a common Ibero-American space.
