La Scala opens its season with applause and … – The World

At least six people have been injured in clashes between the Italian security forces and various protest groups have protested Sunday at the doors of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan against the Italian Government , while inside the theater, the opening of the opera and ballet season under the baton of Daniel Barenboim was held.

As reported by emergency services, two agents of the Italian military police have been slightly injured after receiving several threw bottles thrown by protesters. Also, a man was retained although later got escapar– while preparing to throw a molotov cocktail, as reported by Italian media. Moreover, several protesters were slightly injured after being beaten by police officers during the clashes.

“The protests are legitimate but the important thing is that not become violence “said the mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, on arrival at Milan theater. Less comprehensive Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, who accused the protesters of harming the city economically and image, a few months after the opening of the Expo was shown.

This Sunday Milan woke up completely shielded by the Italian security forces. More than 700 national police officers and 300 other local actors were distributed by the main access roads to the theater, which is located a few meters from Plaza del Duomo, to threats from social centers to boycott the premiere.

Each year, the opening of the new season is one of the most anticipated cultural events which attract senior representatives from the world of politics, culture and high society. This time, unlike other times, did not attend nor the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, neither the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano. Instead, if you were Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, President of the Italian Senate, Piero Grasso, or the director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde.

The demonstrations were organized mainly by social centers to protest the economic policies of the Italian Executive , especially the recent reform of labor market, dubbed ‘Jobs Act’, which has been rejected in full by the unions and even some members of the Democratic Party, training in government.

The clashes and protests by demonstrators have failed to overshadow, however, the huge success of the inauguration. The ‘Fidelio’ Beethoven, under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, and stage director Deborah Warner, has also included the official farewell Argentine-Israeli teacher who leave late December direction opera house in Milan after nine years ahead.
