Maximum dies, outstanding representative of humor in Spain – El Universal (Venezuela)

Madrid (EFE) .- The illustrator and cartoonist Máximo San Juan, one of the most prominent representatives of Spanish humor, died today at his home in Madrid at 82 years due to a cardiac arrest, according to the newspaper El País.

According to this newspaper, citing family sources, the cartoonist, who signed only his name, will be cremated tomorrow.

graphic humorist and writer, Max was born in Mambrilla Castrejon (Burgos, northern ) on February 18, 1932.

Author of several books, Maximum dedicated his professional life to the illustration, whose beginnings are placed in 1962 in the journal Youth, and worked among others with El País, Pueblo , The cordorniz, the Catalan Mail and ABC, ultimate means it has worked.

His books include Stories undaunted , This Country , Open Letter to censorship , Journal Apocryphal , Political Animals , No to NATO and other nuisances , Hypothesis or The power and vice versa .

Throughout his career, he made solo exhibitions and participated in group, including the First Exhibition of Graphic Humor University of Alcalá, as well as an anthology of his drawings to El País, which was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Seville.

The draftsman and Spanish writer was one of those selected from several countries for Writers and Cartoonits Syndicate New York to spread his drawings in the United States.

In addition to the thousands of pictures and hundreds of texts published, Maximo, father of four children, among them the actor Alberto San Juan adapted in 1977 the play The earth is round , Armand Salacrou.
