Gunnar Hansen dies, interpreter Leatherface in the film “The slaughter of Texas” – The Press

Gunnar Hansen , the actor who played the iconic villain Leatherface in the original version of “The slaughter of Texas” ( Texas Chain Saw Massacre ) died on Saturday November 7 as a result of pancreatic cancer at home In Maine, a spokesman said. He was 68.

Hansen starred in the 1974 film that has become a Classic fans horror and led to a series of sequels. In the film, a group of friends visiting the home of his grandfather are persecuted for Leatherface murderer wielding a chainsaw .

The character Gunnar Hansen in the film “is one of the most iconic villains in film history,” his agent, Mike Eisenstadt, who confirmed the death.

Eisenstadt said that in 2013 Hansen published the book “Chain Saw Confidential”, in which offered a look at the ins and outs of the recording and how the film was made.

Hansen was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, said the agent. He moved to the US and attended the University of Texas, where he majored in English and Scandinavian studies.

She is survived by her partner of 13 years, Betty Tower.
