Everyone is white! Director apologizes for lack of diversity in film – The Review

The director of ‘Gods of Egypt’, Alex Proyas, and its distributor, Lionsgate, recognize that they were wrong at the time of creating the film’s cast

Director Alex Proyas (“I, Robot”) and distributor Lionsgate apologized for the lack of racial diversity in the cast of the film “Gods of Egypt”.

The film was criticized for having a cast predominantly Caucasians, when it is a story set in Africa.

Among the stars of the film, which opens in February 2016, are Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Brenton Thwaites all Caucasians.

In a statement published by “Forbes” Proyas shared that the casting process was very complicated, but that does not justify your choice.

The distribution reiterated that They are committed to reflect the cultural diversity of the audience and that this project failed in their attempt company.

A couple of weeks ago, the actress Bette Midler showed their dissatisfaction on Twitter noting that in Egypt, now or in the past, people are white.
