Film Academy claims to have some connection with the blockbuster – Blasting News

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain, chaired by actor Antonio Resines, has issued a statement Thursday denying his relationship with the cases investigated about an alleged crime of fraud consisting of increasing attendance figures wards cast by Spanish films to get a grant from the Ministry of Culture.

In this release, Resines says Film Academy is a private association of professionals the film sector, nonprofit, which has no connection with the facts under investigation for the four courts that investigate the facts.

These courts of Madrid have opened several causes for infringement regarding grants awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport a different film projects, upon detection alleged manipulations of the box office figures for aid to amortization in which the previous system consisted of grants to the movies.

Provincial Prosecutor Madrid has filed a lawsuit against the former president of the Film Academy, Enrique Gonzalez Macho , which is charged in the case as an exhibitor and distributor of the film “Pink and Black” (2009) with Edmundo producer Gil . Both are charged with an alleged crime of fraud subsidies totaling 731,972 euros for this film. While this accusation the former president of the Academy is not linked to the position he held, and he left last February unexpectedly.

In relation to all this information, Secretary of Culture, Jose Maria Lassalle , has said that “ can not raise a general case against the Spanish cinema ” for this alleged crime, and better known as “blockbuster” and adds that “if these issues are confirmed, affect strictly to individuals”.

In some of these cases investigated by several courts of the capital, the parties have reached agreement to repay the grant, as is the If Miguel Bardem . At other times, the Ministry of Culture suspended the granting of subsidies, as has happened with three films in the Production-producing ABS Barcelona , which have led to the allocation of Viñas Sole brothers.

In all, Culture has requested the return of the grants awarded to 23 films between 2013 and 2014, and another nine more in 2015 . This offense of subsidy fraud is punishable under the Penal Code and provides for fines and imprisonment of up to five years for those who falsify figures for state subsidies of more than 120,000 euros, should not return such economic concessions.
